HostExcellence Reliability During our extensive hosting experience with HostExcellence, we have had hardly any server outages. It would be a lie to say they have never been down - everyone of the hosting companies we reviewed have had downtime, on occasion. The question is not IF downtime happens, the question is when it happens - and on that occasion, it is very important to have a hosting company that is capable to quickly resolve any ongoing issues, so your site is back online in no time.
HostExcellence Data Center (toured) As the title indicates, we have personally visited and "examined" Host Excellence's data center. The importance of doing that is obvious. You might have heard of the story that 90% or more of the web hosts are just resellers, and another 9% are just co-locating in some other data center, without direct physical access to the machines. That's not a story, that's plain reality.
This is why we have personally verified that Host Excellence's data center facility actually exists by paying them a visit at their facility. You can find the data center's address on their website. Host Excellence currently has two redundant (SONET) fiber-optic connections. They have built their own fiber-optic loop, which means that they do not depend on any telephone companies for the last mile, or the local loop. This automatically gives them a higher reliability than any other "rented loop" hosting company, or co-location facility.
Host Excellence has multiple DS3 and OC3 connections to various Tier1 network providers such as MCI, Qwest and ATT. The connections are delivered by Bell South and KDL over two separate fiber-optic loops. At the time we visited their facility, they were busy getting a new OC-3 line (155mbit / s) from ATT for their future expansion.
HostExcellence Customer Service The support they provide can be rated as excellent, especially their LIVE CHAT feature. What's nice about their support is that you have 24 / 7 support via an online ticketing system as well as real 24 / 7 live chat tech support and sales service. While we only encountered a few small problems, their support staff was quick to provide us with answers and make any necessary adjustments. We commend them for their prompt and reliable support!
HostExcellence Control Panel HostExcellence has developed a unique control panel for their hosting sites. Frankly, their control panel software is one of the best available in the market. They use HSphere (www.hsphere.com) as their hosting control panel with the big advantage being that they offer both, LINUX and WINDOWS based accounts.

From having 50% disc usage I suddenly went to 120% requiring an "upgrade". Six days now I have been without a website, losing me many $. And no-one there gives the same answer twice - if I can get an answer. If you think about using them think again. You'd spend your money better by having a good meal and a bottle of wine. Useless does not adequately describe them.

At the moment i have no access to my sites as they have suspended my accounts and i have no access to my control panel on my website, my site doesn’t host any downloads or illegal material, just a community of DJ’s who chat and discuss about music.
I would advise anyone looking to host a community website to check that the package you purchase from these will be allowed as there servers seem to have problems with the smallest of sites, my community only had 400 members and about 4000 posts and i was on the top package with them.
My account was suspended yesterday morning without any notice but they claim they will email a warning asking for the matter to be resolved before limiting your account, this didn’t happen with me?
Now i am unsure if this comment will be shown on here as it does not show them in a good light but people need to know what kind of service they can expect.
I do hope they manage to get my issue resolved but i am already looking for new hosts and wont be recommending Hostexcellance to any of my clients and friends, i will also be leaving this review on any site that asks for comments about the service this hosting company provides.

Thier mail server is sometimes unstable, especially they use Horde mail which is awfull, full of bugs, slow and with limited functionality.
Not recomended for those with extensive mail traffic, or if you need to check your mail via Web and not Pop3.

Customer service is varied - some reps are very helpful; others flat refuse to do anything to help. Reliability has not been good - web host has been offline several times; Database service has stopped (crashed) & for the first 12 requests, customer service refused to do anything about it. Email service is unreliable -- 20-40% of emails passing through their servers are delayed, lost, or blocked.
